Foundations on the Hill (FOTH) 2022

Happening Virtually in April

Whether this is your first, your fourth, or your fourteenth FOTH (the fond nickname for Foundations on the Hill), you are invited to join Virginia Funders Network (VFN) from April 5 – 7, 2022, in learning more about how to be a better advocate for those policies that matter most to philanthropy.  FOTH 2022 is the 19th gathering of representatives from around the country, and is an annual advocacy opportunity for grantmakers and philanthropy-serving organizations (PSOs) to learn and advocate on behalf of the philanthropic sector. It is presented by United Philanthropy Forum in partnership with the Council on Foundations and Independent Sector.

While building relationships with elected officials is important all year long, FOTH is the one time during the year when philanthropy comes together to speak with one, unified voice to policymakers about the unique and vital role that charitable giving plays in America.

Foundations on the Hill:

  • Informs and educates Congress about philanthropy;
  • Creates visibility for foundations and philanthropy on Capitol Hill;
  • Advocates on issues important to foundations;
  • Encourages Congress to view foundations as resources on key public policy issues; and
  • Builds your organization’s relationship with lawmakers and their staffs.

VFN staff are participating in FOTH 2022 as observers and learners. We will be attending the many informational plenaries and panel discussions offered virtually this year and encourage members to do the same. You can view the 2022 FOTH agenda and register online. The cost is $100/person.

As this is VFN’s first year participating in FOTH, we will be partnering with our more experienced colleagues at Philanthropy Southeast to support our members who may be interested participating in virtual meetings with lawmakers and their staffs. If you have questions or are interested in participating in FOTH, please e-mail Robin Mockenhaupt, VFN’s Director of Policy and Advocacy.
